The AI Revolution: This Week in Focus!

In partnership with

Welcome back to The Chris Worsey Newsletter!

As ever, we are going to be looking into five of the most interesting stories that I saw over the course of this last week.

Today – again – we have an AI special! Transforming the way we interact with technology and, on larger scales, information as a whole, the rise of AI has contributed to a huge shift in how we process and understand data.

Together, we’ll highlight the newest advancements in the industry, and make sure that none of you are behind on the latest trends and tools shaping our lives.

Before we get into it, though, be sure to check out my newest project on Youtube!

1) Meta: Big Steps…

A few weeks ago, I came across a story related to Google.

More specifically, it had to do with the monopoly that the company currently holds in the search engine industry, and the US Justice Department’s efforts to reduce its market power.

The problem? Well, even if the Justice Department’s recommendations were to succeed, there is currently no viable alternative available — or so we think…

  • Originally reported by The Information, Meta is currently working on a plan that would see them create an AI-powered search engine.

    • While little is known about how the system will look in actuality, it is expected that the engine would utilise AI chatbots to leverage information provided by news sources to effectively respond to user queries.

  • Allegedly looking to lessen the world’s reliance on Google and Microsoft, such action would be consistent with Meta’s recent endeavours.

    • Specifically having made progress in building location data to compete with Google Maps, it seems Meta is looking to diversify its services.

2) Not Going Down Without a Fight!

Speaking of search engines, as you may imagine, Google won’t be going down without a fight.

Always looking to improve their system, and optimise user experience, this week reports have come out that Google, too, is looking to leverage AI capabilities.

  • According to, again, The Information, Google is looking to supplement its search engine computing by using AI.

    • Set to be powered by Gemini 2.0 – Google’s very own generative AI model – it is said that the firm is developing technology that will see AI ‘take over’ users' web pages to complete a variety of tasks.

  • Named Jarvis, the technology that remains in-development seems to be looking to tackle everyday tasks, and automise tedious undertakings including purchasing products, booking flights, and gathering data.

    • Although a timeline is unknown, according to reports, Jarvis could be available by early December…

Savvy Investors Know Where to Get Their News—Do You?

Here’s the truth: there is no magic formula when it comes to building wealth.

Much of the mainstream financial media is designed to drive traffic, not good decision-making. Whether it’s disingenuous headlines or relentless scare tactics used to generate clicks, modern business news was not built to serve individual investors.

Luckily, we have The Daily Upside. Created by Wall Street insiders and bankers, this fresh, insightful newsletter delivers valuable insights that go beyond the headlines.

3) Apple: AI for Everyone!

Apple is, obviously, the world’s largest smartphone producer.

Valued at nearly three trillion dollars, it is estimated – albeit as of 2023 – that there are around 1.5 billion active iPhone users.

When discussing why this is important in the realm of AI development, well, the sheer scale of Apple’s user base could lead to an unprecedented level of engagement with the technology. Let’s get into it…

  • A few weeks ago, Apple announced the creation of ‘Apple Intelligence’ – the company’s response to the growing importance of AI. Today, its features were finally released across various devices.

    • With development set to roll out slowly, despite having existed in developer and public data builds of Apple products, as of this week, its capabilities finally became available in public OS builds.

  • Due to Apple's strategy of careful rollout, though, many of the system's main features will not be released until the new year.

    • Despite that, this week’s feature set still includes developments related to Siri, email, notifications, and more.

4) OpenAI: A New Era

You didn’t think we would get through an entire AI special without talking about OpenAI, did you!?

Revolutionising the entire industry a few years ago with their release of ChatGPT, OpenAI has become one of the most important names in the world of AI. Placing a specified focus on the creation of innovative technologies, the firm has truly reshaped the way that we interact with technology.

  • This week, it was revealed by Reuters that OpenAI is finally developing its first in-house AI chip!

    • Partnering with Broadcom and TSMC, the company aims to design a chip that can optimise performance for both training and inference tasks specific to its AI applications.

  • Currently utilising chips developed by Nvidia, if OpenAI was to successfully create its own, it could reduce its dependency on Nvidia, potentially lower costs, and enhance its ability to scale AI services more efficiently.

    • The new chip is expected to be released by 2026, and is being developed by a team of experts with experience in creating Tensor Processing Units.

5) The Future of Sport

When it comes to the topic of sports-technology, from my own experience in the industry, much of the conversation tends to revolve around what’s being done to improve on-pitch performances.

But that is only half the story, isn’t it? At the heart of the matter, sport would be far from what is now if it weren’t for fans.

Today, we stand in a rapidly evolving landscape where the way fans consume sporting content is transforming dramatically.

  • Over the last few months, Cosm – a firm specialising in the use of shared reality experiences – has gone viral for its sporting showcases.

    • Essentially allowing fans the feeling of being inside an arena without having to actually be there, Cosm has created immersive experiences that blend real and virtual worlds at the highest level.

  • This week, the company struck a deal with the NFL to broadcast select games across the 2024 season.

    • Revolutionising the realm of sports broadcasting, this deal could represent a seismic shift in the way fans are to consume sports content in the future.

“Playing in the league was a great privilege, and I’m thrilled to work with the NFL again, this time without my pads, to give fans a unique way to experience the game we all love in shared reality.”

Jeb Terry, Former NFL Player & President and Chief Executive at Cosm
